Do they still sell the true base model that sits really low? This looks lifted.

Using a base Taco for highway driving is like...I dunno...using a Miata for mountain snow driving or something.

No. I would like keyless entry and a slightly nicer interior, and alloy wheels.

I thought “base” and “rental spec” implied that it was cheap, but god damn these things start at 40k in Canada.

That’s a big no. The RWD Taco sits MUCH higher than the previous gen RWD (2005-2014). I have a photo of my parked next to one somewhere on some phone...

We had an older low Tacoma, and I would have much preferred it to be a PreRunner. Getting in and out of a truck dozens of time is easier when you just slide in vs drop in.

In the back? The front is two bucket seats. The rear is still pretty tight for anybody over 5- 9 or so. 3 across in the back would be fully squished together.

I can answer from mine, sort of. Around town it’s fine for 5 but I took 5 people from Portland to Shasta and reviews from the back seat(two of the occupants being chicks on the small side, one being a very normal sized guy) were not very positive. I also kept elbowing the middle occupants feet when shifting because the console was apparently the best spot for them.
I do not believe a front bench is available.

Lifted like 4-inches, it’s a big enough difference to be noticeable. I much preferred our full size trucks because of it. It’s not a sports car, it doesn’t need to be low.

Not really. I have an uncle who bought a Frontier for that very reason. He uses a ladder rack for his work truck, and with the 2wd Frontier he doesn’t have to stand on a ladder to get his ladder. Lol.

Overall, did you like it?
I test drove a 2018 double cab with long bed. It felt so narrow inside - I’m coming from a 2000 Tundra and I figured these caught up in size. That was a solid no though.
Did you like the power? Again, tundra only has 240hp I think, but it feels more responsive and quicker, even with the ancient transmission and a tired engine.
I have a feeling that Camry 3.5L V6 was not the best engine for that truck.
That’s why we kept the 2000 tundra and bought a 2018 Tundra SR5 TRD Sport.

Chevy Colorado>Tacoma
Not impressed with new engine.
Yes feels narrow, but easy to drive in town.
Back seat rom still for children.
As a whole package it’s okay but not $32k okay. I would probably get a Colorado if shopping for something this size.
